I have a house in Pearland, Texas that could be yours if I am allowed to go forward with this contest. I am still in the beginning stages but here is the plan. Each contestant will write an essay of no more than 500 words descibing why they should win the contest and pay a $100.00 entry fee. The winning essay will get the keys to a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage all brick home that is on slightly over 1/2 acre, in the middle of town. Pearland is one of the fastest growing communities in the country right now. It is an easy commute to anywhere in Houston, Galveston, Kemah and the south Texas coast.
Can you imagine? For an essay and a hundred bucks, you could own a house, all taxes current, closing costs paid, kitchen appliances included, new roof, new paint inside and out, all you have to do is move in, nothing more owed or needed.
Once I make sure I am not breaking any laws, I will hire a lawyer, establish an escrow account for the entry fees received, determine who the judges of the essays will be, and set up the closing with the title company.
In order for the judging to begin, I will need a minimum of 2000 entries, but here is the good part. I will not accept more than 5000 entries which means the odds of winning will be somewhere between 1 in 2000 to 1 in 5000.
